NEW LEIPZIG NEWS
The major newspaper (BILD) in Leipzig, Germany sent a photographer (Anya Jungnickel) and an editor (Erik Trümper) to cover the Centennial events in New Leipzig. They were very friendly and fit right in with all of our residents and their families.
All over town you could find them photographing and interviewing people for their story about our little town.
It is heartwarming to know that a city of over half a million people would be interested in our little town of not quite 300 residents.
Click the logo for a link to the paper's website in English:
New Leipzig is now featured in the Leipzig, Germany newspaper "BILD"'s Website!
Elaine Elke Brown of Hermiston, Oregon writes!
My Great Grandfather & Great Grandmother are buried in New Leipzig...Friedrich Oelke & Wilhelmina (Keuhn) Oelke. He passed away in 1924, & she passed away in 1927.
John Gallardo of California writes!
I enjoyed seeing the articles in the 1900-1919 photo area of Dub's Meat market, as my mother here in California has a match holder, which hangs on the wall, from "City Meat Markets, R. Dubs, prop., New Leipzig, and Carson". I believe the store gave them out as advertising. Mom is Edna Weishahn Gallardo, born in Elgin, but lived mostly north of Carson growing up.
